Cedar or Spruce?
Cedar opens up quickly and responds well to a lighter touch — warm, colored, and forgiving — and has a shimmering quality brought about by the activation of the higher frequencies.
Spruce is brighter, with a clarity that cuts through and rewards a more developed technique. Both are exceptional — honestly, on a recording you'd be hard pressed to tell them apart. Trust your gut.

Pavan Guitars is based in downtown Ithaca, New York — one of the most beautiful small cities in the country, set on Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes, surrounded by gorges and waterfalls. Our shop is in a Victorian brick house a few blocks from the commons. If you're ever passing through, come in and play some guitars. We love having visitors. By appointment.
